BACK PAIN
Back pain is a prevalent issue that affects people of all ages and can significantly impact quality of life. It can manifest in various forms, each with its causes and symptoms. Chiropractic care is often sought for relief from different types of back pain due to its non-invasive nature and focus on the body to promote self healing.
six TYPES OF BACK PAIN
Acute lower back pain is characterized by sudden, sharp pain in the lower back, often resulting from improper lifting, sudden movements, or injuries. It typically lasts for a few days to a few weeks.
Chronic back pain persists for more than three months and may be the result of underlying conditions such as degenerative disc disease, arthritis, repetitive motions, or other underlying cause.
Sciatica is characterized by pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which extends from lower back down through the hips and buttocks and leg. It typically affects only one side of the body and can be caused by a herniated disk, bone spur, or spinal stenosis compressing part of the nerve.
A herniated disc occurs when the soft interior of a spinal disc protrudes through a tear in the disc’s tougher exterior. This can irritate nearby nerves and result in pain, sometimes numbness, tingling or weakness.
DDD is not a disease but a term used to describe the natural changes in the spinal discs as one ages. It can lead to disc thinning, loss of mobility, and pain.
Poor posture over time can lead to imbalance and strain on the spine, resulting in back or neck pain. This is increasingly common with sedentary lifestyle and extensive use of technology.
